Vermont’s Only Real Castle: The Historic, Beautiful, and Spooky Wilson Castle

Hi, Friends! It’s officially spooky season, which makes it the perfect time to take a trip up to Proctor, VT to tour Wilson Castle, known for its lovely architecture, its scenic landscape, and its paranormal activity.

This architectural masterpiece was built in the middle of the 19th Century with a design that is a blend of European styles. It has been the home of five generations of the Wilson family. Part of the estate is presently with the Wilson Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, to preserve its longevity.

Visitors can go on guided tours given by knowledgeable staff or walk through the gorgeously decorated rooms on their own. There are plenty of curiosities to discover on the first and second floors, including the gift shop. But what’s happening on the floors above? You might have to book a paranormal tour to find out.

Regardless of whether former residents still haunt Wilson Castle, you can undeniably feel its storied past as you stroll through the grand estate. With autumn leaves crunching underfoot and the spirit of Halloween in the air, it is the ideal season to plan your visit.
